1. CARBON BLACK

Description:

Carbon black’s primary industrial use (around 70%) is as a reinforcing filler in tires and rubber goods, boosting durability, strength, and heat dissipation, but it’s also crucial as a black pigment in inks, coatings, and plastics, providing UV protection, color, and electrical conductivity in items like cables, batteries, and electronic components. It adds UV resistance to plastics (like polypropylene), acts as a conductive additive in batteries and anti-static materials, and offers ‘jetness’ (deep black color) in paints and toners.

Applications:

  • Tires & Rubber: Reinforces rubber, increases wear resistance, improves mechanical strength, and helps dissipate heat, extending tire life. Used in belts, hoses, seals, and gaskets.
  • Plastics: Provides deep black color, protects against UV degradation (extending product life), and imparts electrical conductivity for anti-static or conductive applications (e.g., fuel caps, pipes, electronic enclosures).
  • Coatings & Inks: Serves as a high-quality black pigment for ‘jetness’ (deep black) in automotive paints, printing inks, and toners, also offering UV stability.
