2. MANGANESE OCTOATE

Manganese

Description:

Manganese driers offer moderate activity and possess both oxidizing and polymerizing properties, allowing them to function as both surface and through driers. They can be used independently in baking finishes or in combination with cobalt and lead for air-drying applications. When paired with lead, they help form hard, tough, and durable paint films. Manganese driers are widely used in exterior paints, floor finishes, baking enamels, and foundry-related applications.

Applications:

  • Drier for Solvent & Water borne Coatings
  • Drier for Printing Ink
  • As bonding agent in Foundry chemicals.

Packing:

Mild Steel/HDPE Drums of 185/200 Kgs & 22/25/45/50 Kgs

Storage Parameters:

Twelve Months in original container at Ambient Temperature.

3. LEAD OCTOATE

Lead

Description:

Lead driers act primarily as through driers and are typically used alongside active surface driers. They promote uniform drying throughout the paint film while enhancing flexibility, toughness, and durability. However, Lead Octoate may react with residual phthalic anhydride in alkyd resins, potentially causing haze or gloss loss. To prevent this, Calcium Octoate is added first, improving emulsification, pigment dispersion, and wetting. Lead driers are commonly used with Manganese in exterior paints and floor finishes and also serve as auxiliary driers in polyurethane coatings.

Applications:

  • Drier for Solvent in combination with Cobalt, Calcium & Manganese
  • Drier for Printing Ink
  • As bonding agent in Foundry chemicals.

Packing:

Mild Steel/HDPE Drums of 205/220/250 Kgs & 25/30/50/60 Kgs

Storage Parameters:

Twelve Months in original container at Ambient Temperature.

4. ZINC OCTOATE

Zinc

Description:

Zinc functions as an auxiliary drier and is used in combination with redox metals. Its primary role is to delay surface drying, keeping the film open to allow uniform through-drying and prevent surface wrinkling, especially in cobalt-based systems. Zinc also acts as an effective wetting and dispersing agent, reducing mixing and grinding time when added early in formulation. Due to its light color, it can be incorporated without affecting the final appearance of the coating.

Applications:

  • Drier for Solvent & Water borne Coatings
  • As loss of Dry Agent

Packing:

Mild Steel/HDPE Drums of 180/200 Kgs & 22/25/45/50 Kgs

Storage Parameters:

Twelve Months in original container at Ambient Temperature.

5. ZIRCONIUM OCTOATE

Zirco 1

Description:

Zirconium is a highly effective auxiliary drier that functions primarily as a through drier, similar to lead. It is commonly used in combination with cobalt, manganese, and calcium to achieve balanced drying performance. Since zirconium has limited pigment wetting and dispersing ability, calcium is typically added to enhance dispersion. As an active cross-linking agent, zirconium improves the hardness and adhesion of stoved films. While it is less effective in phenolic resin systems, it is recommended as a catalyst in epoxy ester formulations.

Applications:

  • Drier for Solvent & Water borne Coatings
  • Drier for Lead free applications

Packing:

Mild Steel/HDPE Drums of 180/200/225/250 Kgs & 22/25/45/50 Kgs

Storage Parameters:

Twelve Months in original container at Ambient Temperature.

6. CALCIUM OCTOATE

Calcium

Description:

Calcium is an auxiliary drier with minimal drying action on its own but is highly effective when used alongside active driers such as cobalt and lead. In systems with limited lead tolerance, calcium can partially replace lead to prevent precipitation while maintaining drying efficiency. It is also used as a safer alternative where lead toxicity must be avoided. Calcium improves pigment wetting and dispersion, enhances gloss and hardness, reduces skinning, and minimizes drier loss by preferential absorption when used with drier-absorbing pigments.

Applications:

  • Drier for Solvent in combination with Cobalt, Calcium & Manganese
  • Driers for Lead free systems along with Cobalt & Strontium.

Packing:

Mild Steel/HDPE Drums of 180/200 Kgs & 22/25/45/50 Kgs

Storage Parameters:

Twelve Months in original container at Ambient Temperature.

7. STRONTIUM OCTOATE

Strontium

Description:

Strontium Octoate serves as a Lead-free alternative, improving through-drying under challenging conditions such as high humidity or low temperatures. It enhances Zirconium’s performance, avoids yellowing, and acts as a pigment wetting and dispersing agent, preventing haze and wrinkling.

Applications:

  • Drier for Solvent as lead replacement
  • Drier for high solid systems

Packing:

Mild Steel/HDPE Drums of 180/200 Kgs & 22/25/45/50 Kgs

Storage Parameters:

Twelve Months in original container at Ambient Temperature.

8. CERIUM OCTOATE

Cerium

Description:

Cerium is a primary drier that promotes polymerization and provides excellent through-drying properties. More active than Lead in alkyd-based varnishes, it does not cause turbidity and works synergistically with Cobalt, allowing reduced Cobalt usage for cost efficiency. Ideal for lead-free formulations and sulphur-containing pigments, Cerium also helps prevent yellowing and resists atmospheric hydrogen sulphide stains.

Applications:

  • Drier for Solvent as lead replacement
  • Drier for Printing Ink

Packing:

Mild Steel/HDPE Drums of 180/200 Kgs & 22/25/45/50 Kgs

Storage Parameters:

Twelve Months in original container at Ambient Temperature.

9. IRON OCTOATE

Iron

Description:

Iron Octoate is used in backing finishes to promote rapid polymerization and enhance through-drying in air-drying systems. It acts as an excellent wetting agent for carbon black and iron oxide, prevents drier adsorption on pigments, increases gloss, reduces film tackiness in high non-drying oil paints, and serves as an adhesion promoter in anti-corrosion coatings. It can also be used as a Lead replacement in aluminum paints.

Applications:

  • Drier for Solvent
  • Drier for Baking systems

Packing:

Mild Steel/HDPE Drums of 200 Kgs & 25/50 Kgs

Storage Parameters:

Twelve Months in original container at Ambient Temperature.

10. COPPER OCTOATE

Copper

Description:

Copper Octoate is an effective antifouling agent, commonly used in ship bottom paints. In seawater, it gradually hydrolyzes to Copper Hydroxide and Octoic Acid, with Copper Hydroxide acting as an active toxicant. It is also used as a rot-proofing agent in textiles, cordage, and timber to prevent dry rot and mildew growth.

12. COMBINATION DRIERS

Combination

Description:

Combination driers such as Cobalt/Zirconium/Calcium or Cobalt/Strontium/Calcium are commonly used in high-solids paints. Compared to lower-solids alkyds, higher amounts of through-driers are required—for example, 0.05% Cobalt and 0.4% Zirconium—to ensure proper drying performance
